Chocolate Banana Berry Smoothie ~ CF DF

Struggling with allergies in your family and wondering how to make a nutritious smoothie to start the day, yet avoid common allergens like dairy, casein, and soy? Rest assured, there are so many combinations of smoothies you can still make. The idea is to start thinking outside the box and using this recipe for Chocolate Banana Blueberry Smoothie ~ DF CF as a starting point to customize allergy free smoothies that makes your family's taste buds sing! Start off with what we have, then experiment, to come up with the perfect taste and nutrition for your clan. You can add all sorts of nuts or seeds to increase protein, or choose one of a variety of protein powders depending on what your family can tolerate.

  • 2 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 2-3 Tablespoons organic cocoa powder
  • 2-3 frozen bananas (cut bananas into 1 inch chunks and freeze!)
  • 5-10 drops liquid stevia (to taste)
  • 1 cup Almond Milk or So Delicious coconut milk
  • handful of ice - this varies

Optional: Protein powder scoop or two, 1/4-1/2 cup nuts, 1-2 Tbs flaxseed, 2 Tablespoons Chia Seed

In a Vita-Mix container, put almond or coconut milk, liquid stevia, cocoa powder, frozen bananas and blueberries.

Turn on Vita-Mix to low, and walk it up to 10, then turn on full blast, mixing for about 30 seconds.

If desired, add ice to get to the texture you want for your Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie, add a little more ice if you want it frostier. We use less ice in the freezing Tennessee mountain winter than we do in the hotter summer days. Notice - even the DOG wants a ChocoBananaBerrySmoothie!
