Dave's one issue with the Buffalo Wings Grill's Blazin Hot Wings was that they tasted chemically and were drowning in chemical sauce. There is no larger insult at Chez Baughn than a "chemical taste" so I hastened to make a reasonable alternative that he would like. Dave is decidedly NOT a fan of Tabasco type sauces, so I had to create my own hybrid and use the spice cabinet and what we had on hand! Thus, Blazin Hot Wings Style Rotisserie Chicken was born!
Blazin Hot Wings Style Rotisserie Whole Crockpot Chicken is gluten and casein free, grain free, low carb, Paleo and Primal friendly without the wonky worldview, and will fit into a GAPS diet. This smells absolutely fabulous as it cooks and is a Blazin Hot Wings, Buffalo Wild Wings recipe remake.
Oh. So. Yummy. Dinner was a hit.
So here is another recipe that will help you deal make a delicious meal, when you are wondering what to do with all of those incredible deals on marked down ORGANIC whole chickens! Well, continuing on our Crockpot Rotisserie Chicken Challenge, here is another recipe, this time for Blazin Hot Wings Style Rotisserie Whole Crockpot Chicken.
Surprisingly, despite having TWO habaneros in it, it was barely hot when done, something about the crockpot just kills the habaneros heat. Undeterred, I mixed some of the juice, with a cube of jalapeno/cayenne, and poured it over the chicken. Oh happy day!.
- 1 whole chicken, rinsed
Blazin Hot Wings Style Rotisserie Chicken Spice Mix
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon chipotle pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 habanero cube thawed (or chop 1 habanero fine, or 4-6 jalapenos)
- 1 tablespoon EVOO
- 1 tablespoon White Wine Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon water
First, rinse the bird well. Take the chicken innard package out and put it in a separate container.
Put the rinsed chicken into the crock pot.
Stuff inside cavity with a habanero cube, or an extra habanero, or several chopped jalapenos. This will infuse the chicken with Blazin Hot Wings Style goodness as it cooks!
Mix all spices together thoroughly, then add EVOO, vinegar and water, mixing to incorporate flavors. Rub the Blazin Hot Wings Style Rotisserie Chicken Mix over the chicken, on both sides.
Cover and turn on low for 8-9 hours or high for 4-5. It will smell heavenly cooking all day long!
When the chicken was done, we took it out, and immediately deboned it, saving the bones and onions for our Bone Building Broth.
Because we believe in squeezing every ounce of use out of our chicken, we even saved the chicken innard package for dog food! ClaraBaughn is heading steadily toward the BARF diet, the Biologically Active Raw Food Diet, cuz we are just cool that way. Or, we could have Emily do another dissection....choices! Choices! Last few chickens, she was studying the heart and it was the perfect opportunity to dissect a heart and liver!
So, two meals out of the chicken, a couple of lunches, a huge pot of delicious soup from the broth and either dog food or a science dissection....all out of one $4 organic chicken.
It kind of scares me....what I have become and how far I can squeeze a buck, on my ORGANIC marked down chicken!
