Cornbread Dressing GF- Cornbread Stuffing Gluten Free

What do you make for a gluten free crowd who still wants a tasty stuffing? Or is it dressing? Or in Pennsylvania Dutch country, they call it a filling. No matter what you call it, try our Gluten Free Cornbread Stuffing as a simple base. This versatile Cornbread Stuffing recipe easily converts into your favorite holiday variations!

Start with our Skillet Sizzled Cornbread Recipe, only leave out the stevia, or whatever you use to sweeten it. When Skillet Sizzled Cornbread has cooled, crumble it and let it dry out. You can pop it in a low oven to dry it out.

There are a few steps to making any dressing recipe, whether it is homemade or from a mix. They all go together about the same way!

  • 1 recipe Skillet Sizzled Cornbread Recipe, baked and crumbled
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 celery sticks, diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chicken or turkey broth (you may need a little bit more)

Homemade Poultry Seasoning Mix

  • 1 Tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons rubbed sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon Rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Take baked cornbread, and crumble. This recipe was tested using our Skillet Sizzled Cornbread Recipe. If cornbread is too moist, let crumbs dry or bake in a LOW oven (170 degrees or as low as yours will go) for 20 minutes to dry out. Watch carefully, you don't want those gorgeous crumbs to dry out!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a cast iron skillet or regular skillet, melt butter. Add chopped celery and onion, saute until onions are translucent.

In a small bowl, combine spices to make Homemade Poultry Seasoning Mix. Stir well, set aside. See how simple that was to make a delicious mix, from ingredients you have on hand!

Put dried cornbread crumbs in a large bowl. Sprinkle Homemade Poultry Seasoning over the bread crumbs, stir to incorporate. Add chopped, sauteed celery onion mix, stir.

In another bowl, crack 2 eggs and lightly beat together. Add 1 cup chicken or turkey broth, mixing thoroughly. Drizzle over cornbread in the large bowl. Stir well, coating all cornbread crumbs with broth mixture. Add a little more plain broth (or you can use water if you don't have any) until thoroughly combined.

Put into buttered 13x9 pan, 10 1/2 Round Stone or other prepared dish. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Cornbread Dressing GF can be made a day ahead, put in a casserole dish and covered with foil. Bake as directed.
