GF Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls

When your last name is Baughn, and you see Cinnabon, there is a personal connection! We love the ooey gooey rolls and always call them CinnaBaughn! We have been looking and trying different cinnamon rolls, trying to get one we really like! This recipe is adapted from Recipezaar, which based it on Todd Wilbur's MORE TOP SECRET RECIPES. The dough can easily be prepared in your bread machine, just follow your manufacturer's order of ingredients and be sure to put it on “dough” cycle.
Can be cooked in crockpot or in the oven!
1 ½ hours in bread machine
Makes 12-16
- 2 ½ teaspoons yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
- 4 cups flour
FILLING
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter softened
ICING
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cream cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
In bread machine, add ingredients in the order your particular machine recommends.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface, until it is approx 21 inches long by 16 inches wide, and about 1/4 thick. This is a very imperfect process and we always end up with slightly uneven dough. The more you make it, the better you get!
If cooking in oven, preheat oven to 400 degrees. If cooking in a crockpot, insert the crock and turn on HIGH to get the crock warmed up.
Spread the softened butter over every bit of the dough surface, then sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the surface, followed by the brown sugar.
Working carefully, from the long edge, roll the dough down to the bottom edge, trying to keep it in a nice, crisp roll. This will allow your cinnamon rolls to maintain a great shape.
Divide the dough in half. Cut the dough into 1 ½ to 1 3/4 inch slices (varies slightly on how it rolls out) and place in a lightly greased baking stone (or pan) or if slow cooking, place in a warmed crock sprayed with non stick.
Let rise for about ½ an hour to an hour. Cover if in crock pot.
If BAKING: Bake for 10-18 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls in Crock Pot
If cooking in the CROCKPOT: Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours to 2 ½ hours until toothpick inserted into cinnamon rolls comes out clean. When the cinnamon rolls are done, remove ALL rolls from the crock, as they will continue cooking and overbake if they are not removed!
While the rolls are baking combine the icing ingredients. Beat well in food processor or with an electric mixer until fluffy.
When the cinnamon rolls are done, spread generously with icing and enjoy!
