4 cups water
1 packet of stevia (Optional if you want to sweeten with a natural sweetener)
Spray the inside of the slow cooker with non stick spray for easier clean up. Combine the oats and water, cover and cook on LOW for 8-9 hours, overnight, until tender and delicious in the morning
Wake up, stir the oatmeal to blend the flavors. Ladle into large bowls and serve with whatever oatmeal toppings your family likes, brown sugar, vanilla, and butter is what we like!

The Blooms have stayed with us several times, and we LOVE having Gary and Jan! They are from frosty Minnesota and Jan was telling me about a wild rice soup she makes, and how she would make it for me the next time they were down.
I am still waiting, but in the meantime, we tried this one and it won raves on a snowy afternoon!! This is a great way to make your leftover turkey shine in a wonderful, heartwarming dish!

I bought a ton of fresh sweet potatoes at Christmas time, for a really great price. Sweet potatoes are fabulously healthy, a great source of fiber and cook up beautifully in the crock pot. This recipe comes from the Pillsbury Doughboy Slow Cooker Recipe book. This is very much like a sweet and sour chicken – very good. That said, our family is not huge on sweet and sour, but it is a great frugal recipe, made for about $6!
