As I got the Vita Mix out to make my morning protein drink, I wondered what to make. Thinking back to summer, we had gone to an organic blueberry farm and plucked baskets of gigantic, succulent blueberries fresh from the trees. I am currently eating a very REDUCED egg diet, and so have been experimenting with different protein mixes, flavors, berries, fruits and veggies. Blueberries are great for the brain, so in they went.

We are in the midst of doing a spring Gallbladder and Liver Cleanse, and we need to eat a ton of fresh veggies and fruits, and we are really amping up the anti-oxidant capacity. With lean meats, and lowered fat, it is a definite switch from a more paleo lifestyle, but it is only for a short time.
As part of the cleanse, we need to drink 4 glasses of apple juice, 8 oz each, 32 ounces of apple juice each day. I would rather have root canal. I have simply NEVER been a fan of apple juice. I don't mind juicing apples, eating apples in any way shape or form, but drinking bottle apple juice - YUCK! Not a fan. I feel like my blood sugar is through the roof this time and I cannot help but wonder how about the squadrons of "juice" drinking toddlers running around America with a cup of the stuff. Moms, think it through, what are you doing to THEIR bodies?

Some days, I just cannot live without cayenne pepper. Yesterday morning was one of them. As I got the Vita Mix out to make my morning protein drink, it just didn't sound good. I am currently eating a very REDUCED egg diet, and so have been experimenting with different protein mixes and flavors and just flat out wanted something different. My eyes lit on the cayenne pepper. Immediately, my brain went into overdrive and I began thinking of a deep, rich Mayan hot chocolate that I love! Why not make a smoothie out of it? Why not indeed?
