Ken Diehm, the senior pastor at First United Methodists Church asked his congregation last week to text him about the commercials they want him to preach about.
“The commercials are selling us things and I want people in the church to think about what they’re being sold and how it relates to their faith,” Diehm said.
I am completely impressed with a pastor ASKING his congregation to THINK through advertising! No clue what else he preaches on, but this is good!
Just wanted to share what my daughter was up to, while I was busy calling every blasted Republican in the Senate, and writing many more! Guess the apple did not fall far from the tree! Emily is copying and pasting and sending it on to many in the Senate. And for those of you who know our story, this is the kid who is severely dyslexic! And yes, I let her cut and paste two headlines!

Why am I opposed to this package? Well, it’s simple. The stimulus package the U.S. Congress is completing would raise the government’s commitment to solving the financial crisis to $9.7 TRILLION, enough to PAY OFF MORE THAN 90 PERCENT OF THE NATION’S HOME MORTGAGES. And as we all debate whether CEO’s in the PRIVATE SECTOR should get highs salaries, our presidents perks are interesting! At first, limiting salaries sounds great. But then, as you step back, you have to ask yourself, in a GLOBAL economy, do we want the young new president dictating salaries? If we cap salaries at 1/2 a million, and they can make their OLD salary in China, Japan or Russia, why stay here?
